Removing the System Fan

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. base cover

    2. battery

  3. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Lift the locking tab [1].
    2. Disconnect the I/O port cable that secures the system fan [2].
    3. Lift the cable that secures the system fan [3].

  4. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Disconnect the fan cable from the computer [1].
    2. Unroute the cable from the slot [2].

  5. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Loosen the screw that secures the system fan to the computer [1].
    2. Lift the system fan from the computer [2].
