Removing the Base Frame

  1. Follow the procedures in Before Working Inside Your Computer .
  2. Remove:
    1. base cover

    2. battery

    3. hard drive

    4. system fan

    5. keyboard

  3. Flip the computer and remove the screw that secures the palmrest assembly to the system board. Figure displaying removal of secure from the plamrest assembly.
  4. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Remove the screw that secures the display cable to the computer [1].
    2. Lift the tab that secures the display cable to the computer [2].
    3. Peel the tape that secures the hard drive connector [3].
    4. Disconnect the hard drive connector [4].

  5. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Disconnect the display cable [1].
    2. Unroute the cable from the slot [2].

  6. Perform the following steps as shown in the illustration:
    1. Remove the screw that secures the base frame to the computer [1].
    2. Pry the edges of the base frame [2].
    3. Lift the base frame [3].
