Installing the palm-rest assembly

CAUTION:The information in this installation section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation process.

About this task

The following image indicates the location of the palm-rest assembly and provides a visual representation of the installation procedure.

Steps

Place the palm-rest assembly on a flat surface.

Next steps

  1. Install the fingerprint reader, if applicable.
  2. Install the smart card reader.
  3. Install the display assembly.
  4. Install the system board.
    NOTE:The system board can be removed and installed with the heat sink attached in order to simplify the procedure and preserve the thermal bond between the system board and heat sink.
  5. Install the assembly inner frame.
  6. Install the battery.
  7. Install the heat sink (discrete GPU) or heat sink (integrated GPU), as applicable.
  8. Install the M.2 2230 SSD in slot 2, if applicable.
  9. Install the M.2 2230 or M.2 2280 SSD in slot 1, as applicable.
  10. Install the memory modules.
  11. Install the wireless card.
  12. Install the 4G WWAN card or 5G WWAN card, as applicable.
  13. Install the base cover.
  14. Install the SIM card.
  15. Follow the procedure in After working inside your computer.
