Removing the coin-cell battery

CAUTION: The information in this removal section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
    CAUTION:Removing the coin-cell battery resets the BIOS setup program's settings to default. It is recommended that you note the BIOS setup program's settings before removing the coin-cell battery.
  2. Remove the SIM card.
  3. Remove the base cover.
  4. Remove the wireless card.
  5. Remove the 4G WWAN card or 5G WWAN card, as applicable.
  6. Remove the battery.
  7. Remove the assembly-inner frame.

Steps

  1. Disconnect the coin-cell battery cable from the coin-cell battery connector (RTC1) on the system board.
  2. Peel the coin-cell battery, along with its cable, off the palm-rest assembly.
