Removing the WLAN-antenna module

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the base cover.

About this task

NOTE This procedure applies only to computers shipped with a WLAN-antenna module installed on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.

The following images indicate the location of the WLAN-antenna module and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.

Steps

  1. For computers shipped with 4G antennas, remove the screw (M2x2) that secures the WLAN-antenna module bracket to the system board.
  2. For computers shipped with 5G antennas, remove the three screws (M2x2.5) that secure the WWAN shielding cover to the system board.
  3. For computers shipped with 4G antennas, slide and remove the WLAN-antenna module bracket from the system board.
  4. For computers shipped with 5G antennas, slide and remove the WWAN shielding cover from the system board.
  5. Disconnect the WLAN-antenna cables from the connectors on the WLAN-antenna module.
  6. Unroute the WLAN-antenna cables from the routing guides on the system board.
  7. Remove the two screws (M2x2.5) that secure the WLAN-antenna module to the system board.
  8. Slide and remove the WLAN-antenna module from the WLAN-antenna module slot on the system board.
