UEFI Boot Path Security Enables or disables the system to prompt the user to enter the Admin password when booting a UEFI boot path from the F12 boot menu.

Date/Time
Date Sets the computer date in MM/DD/YYYY format. Changes to the date take effect immediately.
Time Sets the computer time in HH/MM/SS 24-hour format. You can switch between 12-hour and 24-hour clock. Changes to the time take effect immediately.

The following table describes the System Configuration menu options in the System setup program.

SATA Operation Configures operating mode of the integrated SATA hard drive controller.

Default: RAID On. SATA is configured to support RAID (Intel Rapid Restore Technology).

Drives Enables or disables various onboard drives.
SATA-2 Default: ON.
M.2 PCIe SSD-0 Default: ON.
Enable SMART Reporting Enables or disables SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) during computer startup to report hard drive errors.

Default: OFF.

USB Configuration
Enable USB Boot Support Enables or disables booting from USB mass storage devices such as external hard drive, optical drive, and USB drive.

Default: ON

Enable External USB Port Enables or disables USB ports to be functional in an operating system environment.

Default: ON

Thunderbolt Adapter Configuration
Thunderbolt Enables or disables the Thunderbolt Technology feature and associated ports and adapters.

Default: ON.

Enable Thunderbolt Boot Support Enables or disables the Thunderbolt adapter feature and associated during pre-boot.

Default: OFF.

Security Levels Configures Thunderbolt adapter security settings within the operating system.

USB PowerShare
Enable USB PowerShare Enables or disables USB PowerShare feature behavior.

Default: OFF.

Audio
Enable Audio Enables or disables all integrated audio controller.

Default: ON.

Enable Microphone Enables or disables microphone.

Default: ON.

Enable Internal Speaker Enables or disables internal speaker.

Default: ON.

Touchscreen
Touchscreen Enables or disables touchscreen.

Default: ON.

Unobstrusive Mode Enables or disables all light and sound emission in the system.
Enable Unobstrusive Mode

Default: OFF.

Miscellaneous Devices Enables or disables various onboard devices.
Enable Camera Enables or disables the camera.

Default: ON.

Enable Secure Digital (SD) Card Enables or disables the Secure Digital card.

Default: ON.

Secure Digital (SD) Card Boot Enables or disables the Secure Digital Card Boot.

Default: OFF.

Secure Digital (SD) Card Read-Only Mode Enables or disables the Secure Read-Only Mode.

Default: OFF.

MAC Address Pass-Through

Replaces the external NIC MAC address with the selected MAC address from the computer.

Default: System Unique MAC Address

Brightness on battery power Sets the screen brightness when the computer is running on battery power.
Brightness on AC power Sets the screen brightness when the computer is running on AC power.

The following table describes the Security menu options in the System setup program.

Admin Password Field allows you to set, change, or delete the administrator password.
System Password Field allows you to set, change, or delete the system password.
Password Configuration Field provides a rule when setting a password.
Lower Case Letter Field reinforces password must contain at least one lower case letter.
Upper Case Letter Field reinforces password must contain at least one lower case letter.
Digit Field reinforces password must contain at least one digit.
Special Character Field reinforces password must contain at least one special character.
Minimum Characters Field defines a minimum number of characters when creating a password.
Password Bypass Bypass the System (Boot) Password and the internal hard drive password prompts during a system restart.
Disabled Prompts for the system and internal HDD passwords when set.

Default: ON.

Reboot Bypass Bypasses the password prompts on Restart (warm boots).
Password Change Allows the user to change the system and hard drive password without the need for admin password.

UEFI Capsule Firmware Updates Enables or disables BIOS updates through UEFI capsule update packages.

SED Block SID Authentication

Enables or disables settings controlled by BIOS to block entities from taking ownership of the Self-Encrypting Device when the device does not have a password set.

Default: OFF.

Expert Key Management
Enable Custom Mode Enables or disables the keys in the PK, KEK, db, and dbx security key databases to be modified.

Default: OFF.

Custom Mode Key Management Selects the custom values for expert key management.

Default: PK.

The following table describes the Secure Boot menu options in the System setup program.

Expert Key Management
Intel SGX Enable Enables or disables Intel Software Guide Extensions (SGX) to provide a secured environment for running code/storing sensitive information.

Default: Software Controlled.

Enclave Memory Size Sets Intel SGX Enclave Reserve Memory Size.
NOTE: Enclave Memory Size has no effect when SGX is set to Software Controlled.
Table 9. System setup options—Performance menu

The following table describes the Intel Software Guard Extensions menu options in the System setup program.

Performance
Multi-Core Support Changes the number of CPU cores available to the operating system. The default value is set to the maximum number of cores.

Default: All

Intel SpeedStep Enables or disables the Intel SpeedStep Technology mode of the processor.

Default: Enable Intel SpeedStep

C-States Control Enables or disables additional processor sleep states.

Default: C-states

Intel TurboBoost Enabled or disabled the Intel TurboBoost mode of the processor. If enabled, the Intel TurboBoost driver increases the performance of the CPU or graphics processor.

Default: Enable Intel TurboBoost.

Hyper-Thread Control Enables or disables the HyperThreading Technology to use processor resources more efficiently.

Default: Enabled.

Table 10. System setup options—Power Management menu

The following table describes the Intel Software Guard Extensions menu options in the System setup program.

Lid Switch
Enable Lid Switch Enables or disables the lid switch so the screen does not shut off when lid is closed.

Default: ON.

Power on Lid Open Enables or disables the system to power up from off state whenever the lid is opened.

Default: ON.

AC Behavior Enables or disables the sytem if OFF or in hibernation to power on automatically.
Wake on AC

Default: OFF.

Enable Intel Speed Shift Technology Enables or disables Intel Speed Shift Technology support which enables the operating system to select the appropriate processor performance automatically.

Default: ON.

Auto on Time Enables the computer to automatically power on for defined days and times.

Default: Disabled. The system will not automatically power up.

Thermal Management Standard setting for cooling fan and processor heat management.

Default: Optimized. This setting is a balance of performance, noise, and temperature.

USB Wake Support
Wake on Dell USB-C Dock Enables or disables the USB devices to wake the computer from Standby mode.

Default: ON.

NOTE: This feature functions only when the AC power adapter is connected.
Wireless Radio Control This feature senses connections of the system to a wired network and subsequently disable to selected wireless radios.
Control WLAN Radio

Default: OFF.

Control WLAN Radio

Default: OFF.

Wake on LAN Allows the system to power up from an off state when triggered by special LAN signal or special Dell USB-C dock LAN signal.

Default: ON.

LAN Only

LAN with PXE Boot

Default: OFF.

Block Sleep Enables or disables the sytem to go to sleep.

Default: OFF.

Peak Shift Minimizes AC power usage at time of peak demand

Advanced Battery Charge Configuration Enables Advanced Battery Charge Configuration from the beginning of the day to a specified work period. Advanced Battery Charged maximizes battery health while still supporting heavy use during the work day.
Enable Advanced Battery Charge Mode

Default: OFF.

Primary Battery Charge Configuration Enables the computer to run on battery during power usage hours. Use the below options to prevent AC power usage between certain times of each day.

Default: Adaptive. Battery settings are adaptively optimized based on your typical battery usage pattern.

Enable Adapter Warnings Enables the computer to display adapter warning messages when you use certain power adapters.

Default: ON.

Fn Lock Options Enables or disables the hot key combination <Fn> + <Esc> toggle the primary behavior of F1-F12.

Default: ON.

Lock Mode Disable/Standard

Default: OFF.

Lock Mode Enable/Secondary

The F1-F12 keys control the secondary functions.

Default: ON.

Fastboot This option speeds up the boot process by bypassing some compatibility steps.

Default: Minimal.

Extend BIOS POST Time Creates additional pre-boot delay and and allows the user to see Power-On Self-Test (POST) status messages.

Default: 0 seconds.

Full Screen Logo Enabled or disabled the computer to display full screen logo if the image match screen resolution.

Default: OFF.

Warnings and Errors Selects an action on encountering a warning or error during boot.

Default: Prompt on Warnings and Errors. Stop, prompt and wait for user input when warnings or errors are detected.

NOTE: Errors deemed critical to the operation of the computer hardware will always halt the computer.

The following table describes the Virtualization Support menu options in the System setup program.

Virtualization
Enable Intel Virtualization Technology Enables the computer to run a virtual machine monitor (VMM).

Default: ON.

Enable VT for Direct I/O Enables the computer to perform Virtualization Technology for Direct I/O (VT-d). VT-d is an Intel method that provides virtualization for memory map I/O.

Default: ON.

Table 14. System setup options—Maintenance menu

The following table describes the Maintenance menu options in the System setup program.

Maintenance
Service Tag Displays the Service Tag of the computer.
Asset Tag Creates a system Asset Tag that can be used by an IT administrator to uniquely identify a particular system. Once set in BIOS, the Asset Tag cannot be changed.
Allow BIOS Downgrade Controls flashing of the system firmware to previous revisions.

Default: ON.

Start Data Wipe
CAUTION: This Secure Wipe Operation will delete information in a way that it cannot be recovered.
If enabled, the BIOS will queue up a data wipe cycle for storage devices that are connected to the motherboard on the next reboot.

Default: OFF.

BIOS Recovery from Hard Drive Enables the computer to recover from a corrupted BIOS condition.

Default: ON.

NOTE: BIOS recovery from hard drive is not available for Self-Encrypting Drives (SED).

SupportAssist OS Recovery Enables or disables the boot flow for SupportAssist operating system Recovery tool in the even of certain system errors.

Default: ON.

BIOSConnect Enables or disables cloud Service operating system upon absence of local operating system recovery.

Default: ON.
