Removing the display assembly

Prerequisites

  2. Remove the SIM tray.

Steps

  1. Open the kick stand to the widest possible angle, the system will power on.
    NOTE:The Latitude 7320 Detachable has an automatic power-on feature. The system powers on anytime the kick stand is opened. Follow the below steps to ensure that the system does not power on while the performing replacement procedures.
  2. With the kick stand open, shut down the computer using the operating system.
  3. Place the system on a padded surface with the display assembly facing down.
  4. CAUTION: Make sure that the system has already been powered off before removing the screws.
    Remove the four (M1.6x4) screws securing the display panel to the display back cover.
  5. Using a plastic scribe, push the two release holes next to the kick stand hinges to loosen the display assembly from the display back cover.
  6. Close the kick stand and flip the computer over with the display facing upwards.
  7. Using a plastic scribe, pry open the display panel from the bottom-left or bottom-right corner.
  8. Work your way around the top and remaining sides of the display panel.
  9. Gently flip open the display assembly from the top edge and lay the display panel assembly face down.
    CAUTION:Do NOT pull the display panel away from the base while the display panel is still connected to the system board.
  10. Slide the power switch on the system board from "PD1 (Power on)" to "PD2 (Power off)".
    NOTE:After switching the power switch to "PD2 (Power off)", an LED indicator next to the switch will illuminate red, indicating that power has been cut-off from the computer.
  11. Remove the two (M2x2.5) screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
  12. Remove the display cable bracket from the computer.
  13. Disconnect the display cable from the system board and remove the display assembly from the computer.
