Removing the touchpad
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the battery.
About this task
The following images indicate the location of the touchpad and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps
- Open the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable from the connector on the system board.
- Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard-cable from the connector on the touchpad module.
- Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard backlight-cable from the connector on the touchpad.
- Partially peel and lift up the adhesive shielding cover from over the touchpad.
- Remove the six screws (M2x2) that secure the touchpad bracket to the touchpad module.
- Lift the touchpad module at an angle and slide it out to remove the touchpad module from the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
