Upgrade compatibility check summary

The upgrade compatibility check utility examines the cluster and returns warnings or errors if something is not compatible with the version of OneFS to which you are upgrading. The upgrade compatibility check utility examines the following areas:

Check name Description Recommendation
Disk load Checks the cluster usage level and returns a warning if the disk load is greater than 50%. Disconnect all client connections and stop all system jobs before upgrading.
Free Space Checks cluster free space and returns a warning if capacity thresholds are exceeded for the following partitions:
  • /
  • /var
  • /ifs
  • Node pools
Free up space in the necessary partition before upgrading.
Drive stalls Checks the health of the drives in the cluster. Smartfail and resolve the stalled drive issue before upgrading.
Smartfail operation status Determines if a Smartfail operation is running on the cluster. Wait for the Smartfail operation to complete before upgrading.
IntegrityScan job status Determines if an IntegrityScan job is running on the cluster. Wait for the job to complete before upgrading.
Unresolved critical alerts Checks for any critical alerts on the cluster. Resolve all critical alerts before upgrading.
Unsupported SMB configuration Checks for unsupported SMB settings on the cluster. Reconfigure any unsupported SMB settings before upgrading.
SMB access zone association Checks if any SMB shares are associated with multiple access zones where the share paths overlap. Resolve issues where the share paths overlap before upgrading. The upgrade will succeed, but you cannot create new SMB shares until the overlap issue is resolved.
Kerberos keytab Checks if the Kerberos keytab file will be preserved after the upgrade. You must configure the Kerberos settings to preserve the keytab file before upgrading.
HDFS Kerberos keytab Checks if the HDFS Kerberos keytab file will be preserved after the upgrade. You must configure the Kerberos settings to preserve the keytab file before upgrading.
