If you originally installed InsightIQ 4.1.3 using a script file (.sh) rather than from a virtual machine template (.OVA), InsightIQ can perform an upgrade in place. This procedure can help save steps reconfiguring InsightIQ, however it does require additional free space in the InsightIQ datastore.
If you see a prompt that includes a "Welcome to InsightIQ" prompt and login, then InsightIQ was installed using the OVA template, and you must perform a standard upgrade.
############################# Welcome to InsightIQ InsightIQ Version 4.1.x IP : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ############################# login:
During the upgrade process, InsightIQ is unable to collect data for monitored clusters. It is recommended that you upgrade InsightIQ at a time when cluster activity is minimal.
From the InsightIQ web application, select Datastore free disk space.
, and note theSelect Data Size column, note the total size of the InsightIQ data sizes for each of the individual clusters.
. Under theIf the Datastore free disk space is at least 20% greater than the total data sizes for each of the individual clusters, then you can perform an in-place upgrade.
If more room is needed, create more space on the InsightIQ datastore.
If you cannot make more room, back up the InsightIQ 4.1.3 datastore, perform a fresh install InsightIQ 4.1.4 from scratch, and then restore the datastore. To learn more, see Upgrade InsightIQ (standard upgrade).
sudo yum upgrade --releasever=7.8
