Removing the processor

CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the left-side cover.
  3. Remove the fan shroud.
  4. Remove the fan and heat-sink assembly.

Steps

  1. Press the release lever down and push the lever away from the processor to release the lever from the securing tab.
  2. Extend the release lever completely and open the processor cover.
  3. Gently lift and remove the processor from the processor socket.
