Removing the power supply unit

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the left-side cover.
  3. Remove the front cover.
  4. Remove the 3.5-inch hard drive or 2.5-inch hard drive.
  5. Remove the hard-drive and optical-drive cage.

Steps

  1. Press the securing clips and disconnect the processor-power cable and the system-board power cable from the connectors on the system board.
  2. Unroute the power supply unit cables from the routing guides on the chassis.
  3. In a reverse sequential order (3>2>1), remove the three screws (#6-32) that secure the power supply unit on the chassis.
  4. Slide and lift the power supply unit off the chassis.
