Removing the optical drive

NOTE:Depending on the configuration ordered, your computer may not have an optical drive installed.

Steps

  1. Place the hard-drive and optical-drive bracket on a flat surface to locate the (M2x3) screw.
  2. Remove the (M2x3) screw that secures the optical drive to the hard-drive and optical-drive bracket.
  3. Slide the optical drive out from the hard-drive and optical-drive bracket.
  4. Turn over and place the optical drive on a flat surface.
  5. Use a pin or a tool with a pointed end and insert the pointed end into the optical-drive emergency eject pinhole to eject the optical drive tray.
  6. Use the end of a plastic scribe to push out and unlock the first securing tab of the optical drive bezel.
  7. Gently pull the optical drive bezel to release the two remaining securing tabs of the optical bezel.
