Removing the palm-rest and keyboard assembly

CAUTION:The information in this section is intended for authorized service technicians only.

Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
Remove the SD card.
Remove the base cover.
Remove the 3-cell battery or 4-cell battery (whichever applicable).
Remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive or M.2 2280 solid-state drive (whichever applicable).
Remove the memory modules.
Remove the wireless card.
Remove the speakers.
Remove the fan.
Remove the UMA heat sink or discrete heat sink (whichever applicable).
Remove the I/O board.
Remove the touchpad.
Remove the display assembly.
Remove the power-adapter port.
Remove the power button.
Remove the system board.
NOTE: The system board can be removed along with the heat sink.

Removing the palm-rest and keyboard assembly

After performing the pre-requisites, you are left with the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.

NOTE:For systems with aluminum chassis, both the left and right RF metal brackets must be transferred to the replacement palm-rest.

For systems with aluminum chassis, both the left and right RF metal brackets MUST be transferred to the replacement palm-rest.
