Steps

  1. Open the latch and disconnect the hard-drive flexible flat cable from the connector on the system board.
  2. Remove the four screws (M2x3) that secure the hard-drive assembly to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  3. Lift the hard-drive assembly, along with its interposer and flexible flat cable, off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
NOTE:Computers shipped with aluminum chassis include two RF metal wall brackets installed on the left and right sides of the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. For computers shipped with 2.5-inch hard drive installed, the left RF metal wall bracket is secured by the two screws (M2x3) that secure the hard drive to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly. Technicians should take note of whether or not the bracket has fallen out of the palm-rest and keyboard assembly during subsequent removal procedures.
  4. Disconnect the interposer, with the flexible flat cable, from the connector on the hard drive.
  5. Remove the four screws (M3x3) that secure the hard drive to the hard-drive bracket.
  6. Remove the hard drive from the hard-drive bracket.
