Removing the I/O daughter-board

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the secure digital card.
  3. Remove the base cover.
  4. Remove the wireless card.
  5. Remove the display assembly.

Steps

  1. Remove the two screws (M2.5x5) that secure the right hinge in place to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  2. Lift the right hinge away from the palm-rest and keyboard assembly to access the I/O daughter-board.
  3. Lift the latch and disconnect the I/O daughter-board flexible flat cable from the connector on the I/O daughter-board.
  4. Lift the latch and disconnect the fingerprint reader flexible printed cable from the I/O daughter-board, if applicable.
    NOTE: This step applies only to systems shipped with a fingerprint reader installed.
  5. Remove the three screws (M2x3.5) that secure the I/O daughter-board in place to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  6. Lift the I/O daughter-board off the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
