Removing the display assembly

CAUTION:The maximum operating angle for the display-panel hinge is 135 degrees.

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the SD card.
  3. Remove the base cover.
  4. Remove the wireless card.

Steps

  1. Remove the four (M2.5x5) screws that secure the display hinges to the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
  2. Disconnect the display cable and the speaker cable from the system board (for systems with plastic chassis).
    NOTE:Disconnect only the display cable from the system board for systems with aluminum chassis.
  3. Unroute the WLAN antenna cables from the routing guides on the palm-rest and keyboard assembly (for systems with plastic chassis).
    NOTE:The procedure and images documented is for systems shipped with a plastic chassis. The same procedure is also applicable for system shipped with aluminum chassis, with the exception of the WLAN antenna cables. The WLAN antennas are attached to the palm-rest assembly, therefore it is not required to disconnect and unroute the WLAN antenna cables.

  4. Open the display hinges at an angle of 90 degrees, and place the system on a flat surface.
  5. Remove the display assembly from the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
