Installing the heat sink without discrete graphics

Prerequisites

If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.

About this task

NOTE:Incorrect alignment of the heat sink can damage the system board and processor.

NOTE:If either the system board or the heat sink is replaced, use the thermal pad/paste provided in the kit to ensure that thermal conductivity is achieved.

NOTE:This procedure only applies if you are installing a heat sink for a computer without a discrete graphics processor.

Steps

Align the screw holes on the heat sink with the screw holes on the system board.
In sequential order, tighten the four (1>2>3>4) captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board.
