Updating DDMC software

Only DDMC admins have permission to manage software update packages and perform updates for DDMC.

You can update directly to DDMC 7.9 from a system running DDMC 6.2 or later. To update the DDMC from a release family earlier than 6.2, you must update in steps.

NOTE Updating to Smart Scale services has its own requirements as described later in this topic.

NOTE
  • The DDMC release family directly after 2.0 is 6.1. There are no 3.x, 4.x, or 5.x versions.
  • The DDMC release family directly after 6.2 is 7.0.
  • If you are updating from DDMC 7.4 or earlier to DDMC 7.5 or later, you must add a third disk before the update.

To deploy Smart Scale services, if you are updating from any DDMC release between (and including) 6.2 and 7.7, you must upgrade in two steps:

DDMC release 6.2, DDMC release 7.0, DDMC release 7.1, DDMC release 7.2, DDMC release 7.3, DDMC release 7.4, DDMC release 7.5, DDMC release 7.6, or DDMC release 7.7 Two updates are required:
  1. First use the stand-alone (DDMC) package [for example, ddmc-7.x.0.0.rpm] to update to DDMC 7.8 or later.
  2. Then, to update to Smart Scale services, use the combined (DDMC + DDNVM) package [for example, ddmc-ddnvm-infra-7.x.0.0.rpm].
DDMC release 7.8 or later One update is required:
  1. Use the combined (DDMC + DDNVM) package [for example, ddmc-ddnvm-infra-7.x.0.0.rpm] to update to Smart Scale services.
NOTE When you upgrade the DDMC by using the combined DDMC + DDNVM package, you must continue to use combined packages for future upgrades.

Updating DDMC software is done in two stages:

  1. Obtain the required update package (or packages) from the online support site.
  2. Perform the update (or updates) in DDMC.

DDMC 7.9 manages DD systems running releases DDOS 7.9, 7.8, 7.7, 7.6, 7.5, 7.4, 7.3, 7.2, 7.1, 7.0, and 6.2 (and the next release when it becomes available).
