Removing the palm-rest and keyboard assembly
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the rear cover.
- Remove the touchpad.
- Remove the display assembly.
- Remove the solid-state drive.
- Remove the wireless card.
- Remove the memory module.
- Remove the speakers.
- Remove the power-adapter port.
- Remove the
system board.
NOTE: The system board can be removed as an assembly with the fan and heat-sink assembly, ethernet and audio board, and USB board attached.
- Remove the keyboard-controller board, if applicable.
- Remove the power-button assembly.
About this task
Performing the steps in the pre-requisites leaves us with the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
NOTE:To replace the palm-rest and keyboard assembly, remove the solid-state drive screw mount from the existing palm-rest and keyboard assembly and transfer it to the replacement palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
