Removing the palm-rest and keyboard assembly

Prerequisites

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the base cover.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Remove the rear cover.
  5. Remove the touchpad.
  6. Remove the keyboard-controller board.
  7. Remove the display assembly.
  8. Remove the solid-state drive.
  9. Remove the memory module.
  10. Remove the wireless card.
  11. Remove the speakers.
  12. Remove the power adapter port.
  13. Remove the power button.
  14. Remove the system board.
    NOTE:System board can be removed with the fan and heat-sink assembly, ethernet and audio board, and USB board attached.
  15. Remove the ethernet and audio board.
  16. Remove the USB board.
  17. Remove the fan and heat-sink assembly.

About this task

After performing the steps in the pre-requisites, we are left with the palm-rest and keyboard assembly.
NOTE:When replacing the palm rest, the solid-state drive holder, and the touchpad bracket must to be removed from the existing palm rest and transferred to the replacement palm rest.
