PowerProtect Data Manager 19.16 Microsoft SQL Server User Guide

Add and upload pre-scripts and post-scripts to the PowerProtect Data Manager server

Before you can use a pre-script or post-script with a backup, you must add and upload the script to the PowerProtect Data Manager server. The PowerProtect Data Manager UI provides the options to add, edit, delete, and download a script.

About this task

Only an administrator can access the PowerProtect Data Manager UI options to add, edit, and delete a script.

To add and upload a pre-script or post-script, perform the following steps.

Steps

  1. In the PowerProtect Data Manager UI, select Protection > Scripts.
    The Scripts page appears.
  2. To add and upload a script, click Add on the Scripts page.
  3. On the Add Script page, complete the following settings:
    • Name—Type the script file name.
    • Type—Select Pre or Post as appropriate.
    • Compatibility—Select Windows or Unix as appropriate.
    • Description—Optionally type a description of the script.
    • Script—Add the script text in the text box. You can click Upload to upload a script and have the script text appear in the text box. As an alternative, you can copy and paste the script text directly into the text box.

NOTE:Replacing an original script also updates any associated protection policies with the revised script.
  4. Click Save.

Results

You can now enable the pre-script or post-script in the appropriate protection policy in the Protection > Protection Policies window of the PowerProtect Data Manager UI.
