When adding or editing a protection policy, you can apply predefined filters to the protection policy. The
File Filters page of the
Add Policy or
Edit Policy wizard enables you to select filters and apply it to a protection policy.
About this task
To include or exclude assets within the protection policy from data protection operations, click
File Filters when adding a policy.
To apply filters to an existing protection policy, complete the following steps:
Steps
Select
Protection > Protection Policies.
The
Protection Policy window appears.
Select a protection policy from the list, and then click
Edit.
The
Edit Policy wizard appears.
Select the appropriate asset from the list, and then click
Next
The
File Filters wizard appears.
Select a saved filter from the drop-down or build a new filter using the steps that are provided in
Add File Filters.
Click
Next twice, review the details on the
Summary page, and click
Finish.
PowerProtect Data Manager applies the inclusion filter to the protection policy.
Results
Once the backup job is complete, go to
PowerProtect Data Manager UI, select
Jobs >
Protection Jobs to view the filters applied with filter name. For the protection policy of NAS shares, you can find the number of files and folders that are included.
NOTE:
Slice processed bytes is not exactly the asset size rather depends on various factors such as the exclusion filter, incremental backup and others. This refers to the amount or the total size of slices that are finalized for backup.
Only trace level logs contain file and folder names that are included from backups.
