PowerProtect Data Manager 19.15 Deployment Guide

Taking a snapshot when installing an update package

When installing an update package, you can choose to take a snapshot of PowerProtect Data Manager before the update is installed.

It is recommended you leave Take Snapshot selected. If there is a problem with the update, you can use the snapshot to restore the system to its preupdate state. If Take snapshot is not selected by default, it means that a vCenter server has not been specified as the PowerProtect Data Manager host. For more information about specifying the PowerProtect Data Manager host, see the PowerProtect Data Manager Administrator Guide.

CAUTION:If this option is selected, verify that the datastore used by the vCenter server hosting PowerProtect Data Manager has enough free space to save the virtual machine snapshot. A lack of free space can result in the update failing.
