PowerProtect Data Manager 19.14 Storage Array User Guide

Refresh data on a clone using a snapshot

You can use the refresh operation to update the data on a clone of a volume or volume group with the data from a snapshot copy.

Steps

  1. Log in to the PowerProtect Data Manager user interface as a user with the Administrator role.
  2. From the left navigation pane, select Restore > Assets.
    The Restore window appears.
  3. Click the Block Volumes tab.
The Restore window displays a list of block volume assets (volumes and volume groups).
  4. Select the check box next to the asset that contains the backup, and then click Restore.
You can use the Search field or the filter in the Name column to locate a specific asset.
The Block Volumes Restore wizard opens on the Copy Selection page.
  5. Select the snapshot objective from the associated protection policy.
The wizard displays a list of the available snapshot copies.
  6. Select an available copy, and then click Next.
The Block Volumes Restore wizard moves to the Location page.
  7. Select Refresh data on the clone copy.
The wizard displays a list of the available clones that you can update with the data from the snapshot copy.
  8. Select a clone from the list, and then click Next.
Make sure to select a clone within the same storage array as the backup copy.
  9. On the Summary page, verify the details, and then click Restore to start the restore.
  10. Go to the Jobs window to monitor the restore.
A restore job appears with a progress bar and start time. If a restore job for this asset is already in progress, PowerProtect Data Manager queues a new restore job.
