PowerProtect Data Manager 19.14 Storage Array User Guide

Edit or delete a storage array asset source

You can change the properties for an existing storage array asset source. You can also remove a storage array asset source.

Prerequisites

Before deleting a storage array asset source, ensure that no backup or restore activities are running for any assets on the storage array.

CAUTION:If there are backups or restores running when the asset source is deleted, the protection operations will fail.

Steps

  1. Log in to the PowerProtect Data Manager user interface as a user with the Administrator role.
  2. From the left navigation pane, select Infrastructure > Asset Sources.
    The Asset Sources window appears.
  3. Click the Storage Arrays tab.
The list of configured storage array asset sources appears.
  4. To change the properties for a Storage Arrays asset source, select the asset source and then click Edit.
The Edit Storage Arrays wizard opens.
  5. Update the following fields:
    FieldDescription
Name Type a descriptive name for the storage array.
Address Type the hostname or IP address for the source PowerStore cluster.
    Port

Type the port number for HTTPS REST API access to the appliance.

    The default port is 443.

    Credentials

Select an existing set of management credentials. Alternatively, you can select Add Credentials, provide new credentials, and then click Save.

  6. By default, discovery happens automatically after you add the asset source and subsequent discoveries are either manual or scheduled. To schedule a full discovery at a certain time every day, select Schedule Discovery, and then specify a time.

If discovery is not scheduled, automatic discovery runs every 30 minutes.

For scheduling separate discoveries of the NAS share or credential changes, go to Infrastucture > Asset Sources, select the share in the NAS tab, and click Edit.

  7. If the SSL certificate cannot be trusted automatically, a dialog box appears to request certificate approval. Review the certificate, and then click Verify.
  8. Click Save.
The table entry for the storage array updates.
  9. To remove a storage array asset source, select the asset source and then click Delete.
PowerProtect Data Manager warns you to remove associated assets from protection policies. Click OK to acknowledge the warning.

PowerProtect Data Manager removes the selected asset source.
