Enable the Oracle RMAN agent after migration to a different host
You can migrate to a different Oracle RMAN agent host and connect it with
PowerProtect Data Manager by reusing the IP address and hostname of the former host.
About this task
This procedure is applicable for the following use cases:
Operating system upgrade of the application agent host
Service pack update
The operating system version of the new application host can be the same as or different from the operating system version of the former host. Perform the following steps to migrate the Oracle RMAN agent to a new host by reusing the same IP address and hostname as the former host.
Steps
If the impacted host is the only host in a protection policy, disable the protection policy.
Delete the host by deleting the asset source according to
Delete an asset source. This procedure unregisters the host from
PowerProtect Data Manager and removes the host assets after all the asset copies have expired.
The old assets will be removed, and the asset source is marked as deleted.
Register the new host with
PowerProtect Data Manager using the same hostname and IP address.
NOTE:You can also use a different IP address and FQDN for the new host.
To migrate the Oracle RMAN agent to the new host from the old asset copies, perform a disaster recovery to the new host using a centralized disaster recovery in the
PowerProtect Data Manager UI.
Enable the protection policy, and add the new assets into the protection policy either manually or using the protection rule if any.
NOTE:If you did not disable the protection policy, any associated assets that are protected by the protection policy are removed automatically. Add the required assets back into the policy to continue protecting the assets.
