Enable the Microsoft application agent after hostname change
After the hostname of the Microsoft application agent host is changed, you must update the lockbox setting for the protection policy and add assets back to the protection policies.
About this task
Perform the following steps to enable the Microsoft application agent operations after the hostname is changed.
Steps
From the
c:\Program Files\DPSAPPS\AgentService directory, unregister the Microsoft application agent from
PowerProtect Data Manager by running
unregister.bat.
Uninstall the Microsoft Exchange Server application agent.
NOTE:When you uninstall the application, all mail users and assets that belong to the current host are removed.
The system reboots after the uninstall operation completes successfully.
Change the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the Microsoft Exchange Server application agent host:
Launch the Windows
Server Manager console.
In
Server Manager, click
Local Server, and then click the system name.
The
System Properties dialog box opens.
In the
Computer Name tab of the
System Properties dialog box, click
Change.
In the
Computer Name field, rename the server.
To apply the changes, restart the server by clicking
Restart Now.
In
Server Manager, verify that the server name change is successful.
Reinstall the Microsoft Exchange Server application agent and add the required mail users and assets.
Delete the existing
agents.clb* lockbox files in the
C:\Program Files\DPSAPPS\common\lockbox directory.
NOTE:If the Microsoft application agent is installed to a non-default path, delete the
agents.clb* files in the
lockbox subdirectory of the installation directory.
From the
c:\Program Files\DPSAPPS\AgentService directory, reregister the Microsoft application agent with
PowerProtect Data Manager by running
register.bat.
In the
PowerProtect Data Manager UI, configure the lockbox:
Verify the agent registration and asset discovery.
Create a protection policy to protect the available assets in
Protection > Protection Policies.
Verify that the protection policy configuration job is successful by going to
Jobs > System Jobs and reviewing the job steps.
After the protection policy configuration is complete, on the
Protection > Protection Policies page, select the applicable protection policy in the list and click
Set Lockbox.
