PowerProtect Data Manager 19.13 Oracle RMAN User Guide

Verify that the environment meets the following requirements:

• Ensure that all clocks on both the Oracle host and PowerProtect Data Manager are time-synced to the local NTP server to ensure discovery of the backups.
• Ensure that the Oracle host and the PowerProtect Data Manager network can see and resolve each other.
• Ensure that port 7000 is open on the Oracle host.
• Ensure that Oracle Server is installed and configured on one of the following systems:
  • Stand-alone configuration.
  • Oracle RAC in active/active configuration only.
  NOTE: PowerProtect Data Manager supports an Oracle database installation in a high-availabillity Data Guard environment that includes a primary production node and standby nodes. Each node is protected as a separate asset with a protection policy in PowerProtect Data Manager.

• Ensure that a multi-user Oracle environment meets the following requirements:

  • All the Oracle users are members of the same Oracle group.
  • All the Oracle users have group read and write access permissions to the $RMAN_AGENT_HOME directory.
  • The Oracle RMAN agent installation pathname has the 750 permission setting.

Additional AIX prerequisites

• Ensure that IBM XL C or C++ Runtime for AIX 16.1.0.7 or later is installed.
