Licensing PowerProtect Data Manager

PowerProtect Data Manager can be licensed in several different ways. This section describes the different types of available licenses, how to obtain a license, and how to install it.

License types

The available license types are described in the following table.

License type Description
Trial Applied by default on the deployment of PowerProtect Data Manager, this license enables full use of the product without applying a license key for up to 90 days. When the trial period ends, PowerProtect Data Manager continues to operate with full functionality so that you can apply a permanent license.
Front-end protected capacity by terabyte (FETB) The primary model of eLicensing, which is based on the capacity that you want to protect. For example, you can purchase a 100-TB license, which enables you to protect up to 100 TB of data.

Perpetual and term-based (subscription) licensing

Licensed software is offered in perpetual and term-based licenses. Your quote identifies whether your license rights are perpetual or term-based. A perpetual license enables you to use the software for as long as you are in compliance with the terms of the license agreement. A term-based license enables you to use the software for a specified time, as long as you are in compliance with the terms of the license agreement. At the end of the license term, you must either stop using the software, extend the license term, or purchase new licenses through an agreement with .

Obtaining a license

You use an XML file to license PowerProtect Data Manager. To obtain an XML license file from the license management website, you must have a License Authorization Code (LAC). You will be provided an LAC code in an LAC letter as part of your software order delivery. This LAC letter also includes instructions for entitlement activations and software downloads.

NOTE If you have not received your LAC letter, or you do not have access to it, contact your Customer Support representative.
