PowerProtect Data Manager 19.11 Deployment Guide

Taking a snapshot when installing an update package

When installing an update package, you can choose to take a snapshot of PowerProtect Data Manager before the update is installed.

It is recommended you leave Take Snapshot selected. If there is a problem with the update, you can use the snapshot to restore the system to its preupdate state. If Take snapshot is not selected by default, it means that a vCenter server has not been specified as the PowerProtect Data Manager host. For more information about specifying the PowerProtect Data Manager host, see the PowerProtect Data Manager Administration and User Guide.

CAUTION If this option is selected, verify that the datastore used by the vCenter server hosting PowerProtect Data Manager has enough free space to save the virtual machine snapshot. A lack of free space can result in the update failing.
