Protection engines, whether for
VM Direct, NAS, or Kubernetes, are considered under the control of
PowerProtect Data Manager.
PowerProtect Data Manager manages all aspects of the
protection engine life cycle, including deployment, upgrade, and removal. Customers do not regularly interact with
protection engines other than through
PowerProtect Data Manager.
Even if you replace the default self-signed security certificates for other components,
protection engines continue to use the self-signed certificates.
