Verify SHA-256 checksums in AIX

Before you use a downloaded file, you can verify the file against the SHA-256 cryptographic checksums that Dell provides.

Open a terminal window or shell session and type the following command:

openssl dgst -sha256 <file>

where <file> is the name of the downloaded file. If the downloaded file is not in the current directory, the file path is also required.

Output similar to the following appears:

SHA256(<file>)= 91ce20bc1a3db3001463125df6f136ff692356d122e09a4cb1044bce2d1063e9

Manually compare the computed checksum to the checksum that Dell provides.
