Open with functionality

The Open with function enables you to select your preferred application to open a file. You can choose not to use the default option to open the file. This option is based on the File Affiliation Mode that is configured on Wyse Management Suite.

Cloud + Local
  • Cloud application option is listed.
  • Local applications are listed based on supported formats of installed applications in Dell Hybrid Client. For example, Dell Hybrid Client is configured to open an XLS file with the LibreOffice Excel application.
VDI No options are available.
VDI + Local
  • VDI applications are listed based on the VDI Broker agent connections that are configured in Wyse Management Suite.
  • Local applications are listed based on supported formats of installed applications in Dell Hybrid Client. For example, Dell Hybrid Client is configured to open an XLS file with the LibreOffice Excel application.
Cloud + VDI + Local
  • Cloud application option is listed.
  • VDI applications are listed based on the VDI Broker agent connections that are configured in Wyse Management Suite.
  • Local applications are listed based on supported formats of installed applications in Dell Hybrid Client. For example, Dell Hybrid Client is configured to open an XLS file with the LibreOffice Excel application.

To use the Open with function, do the following:

  1. Open the Dell File Explorer utility.
  2. Locate a file, and click the three dots.
  3. Click Open With.

    A submenu is displayed with the available local or VDI application names. For cloud, the application name is displayed as Cloud.

  4. Select your preferred application to open the file.
