Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) is a set of standards that were developed by NIST to ensure security on the systems by using specific set of algorithms and methods.
Enable FIPS if FIPS-validated cryptographic protection is required within your environment
When you install a certificate, specifically indicate whether that certificate is to be used for FIPS mode services only. To install a certificate, use the crypto cert install command with the fips option.
OS10# crypto fips enable OS10# write memory
Check if FIPS is enabled
Use the following command to verify if FIPS is enabled on the system:
OS10# show fips status FIPS mode: Disabled
