Identify the first empty disk pack in the target enclosure
About this task
The DS600 contains four disk packs. Each disk pack is a 15 disk grouping, three disks wide by five disks deep. Identify the disk pack where the new disks will be installed.
Steps
Display the enclosures and disks installed on the system.
NOTE:In the output below, row A is located at the front of the chassis. The DS600 has color coded markings on the front and rear lips of the disk bay to identify each disk pack.
Run the following command:
disk show state
The drive slot/locations are marked on the chassis 0-59, but the
OS software still references the slots as 1-60. It is important to identify the proper drive between the location called out in the FRU, and the location as specified in the software.
In this example, the new disks will be installed in enclosure 2, pack 2.
