Verify and configure the new disks

About this task

Complete the following tasks to verify and configure the new disks.

Steps

  1. Run the filesys enable to command to reenable the file system.
  2. Run the enclosure show summary command to verify the Data Domain system recognizes the new disk shelf.
    • For a new ES40:
      # enclosure show summary

  3. Run the enclosure show topology command to verify there are two valid SAS paths to the new storage.
    NOTE:Optionally run the enclosure test topology command to test each SAS path.
  4. Run the disk show state command to verify the system can see all the disks in the new enclosure. All the new disks should display in the Unknown state.
    • For a new ES40:
      # disk show state

  5. Run the storage add enclosure <enclosure-number> command to add the new enclosure to the Data Domain system volume. The command prompts for confirmation, and requires the sysadmin password to complete. Run the command once for each enclosure being added.
    # storage add enclosure 3

    system.

  6. Run the disk show state command to verify the system can see all the disks in the new enclosure. All the new disks should display in the Available state.
    • For a new ES40:
