Creating a custom role

Assign the Role Administrator role to a user who is creating a custom role.

Follow these steps to create a custom role. For more details, see https://cloud.google.com/iam/docs/creating-custom-roles#iam-custom-roles-create-console.

Steps

  1. In the GCP console, go to the IAM & Admin page and select Roles.
  2. Click Select a Project, and select your project from the drop-down list.
  3. Click Create Role.
  4. Enter Title, Description, Role ID, and Role launch stage for the role. The role launch stage is for informational purposes. The stages that GCP recommends are Alpha, Beta, and GA. For more information about selecting the role launch stage, see https://cloud.google.com/iam/docs/understanding-custom-roles.
  5. Click Add Permissions.
  6. Search for the permission in the Filter section, select the check box to select the property, and click Add.

  7. Repeat step 5 and step 6 to add the listed permissions.
  8. After adding the permissions, click Create.

    The custom role is created.
