Dell EMC Data Mover Admin Guide

Upgrade Data Mover from version 2.0-87 or later

Use the Data Mover installation package to update Data Mover.

Steps

  1. Transfer the Data Mover installation package to a folder on the DataIQ host, for example, /root.
    cd /root/ 
    cp /yourdrive/data-mover-2.0-88-installer.tar.gz .
  2. On the DataIQ host, extract the DataIQ installer file:
    tar -zxvf data-mover-2.0-88-installer.tar.gz
  3. Navigate to the folder created by during the extraction process. Example:
    cd data-mover-2.0-88/
  4. Upgrade the plugin:
    python data_mover.py upgrade

    This stops the plugin, removes the old Docker image, and installs and updates the new Docker image. Configuration history and outputs are preserved.

  5. Stop and restart Data Mover:
    python datamover.py stop
    python datamover.py start
  6. Optional: Check the status:
    kubectl get pods -ndataiq
    The plugin should appear in the list as Running.
  7. Enable the plugin from the DataIQ UI: Select Settings > Data management configuration. In the Plugins section, select the (vertical ellipses) icon next to the plugin, and select Enable.
  8. Upgrade each of the external worker nodes:
    1. Transfer the file: data-mover-workers-2.0-88.x86_x64.rpm to each worker node.
    2. From the command line on the worker node, upgrade the worker node:
    rpm -Uvh data_mover_workers-2.0-88.x86_64.rpm
