View or edit jobs being transferred by Data Mover

Users can view and edit jobs, cancel jobs, or change system resources allocated to jobs.

To give users access to the View Transfers window, see Set user permissions.

Use the View Transfers window

From the DataIQ Data Management screens, select View Transfers. Within this dialog, you can review the list of your transfer jobs and the details of the jobs you have submitted.

Job information shown includes:
  • Select (Used to edit multiple jobs at a time)
  • Status (Completed, failed)
  • Processes (Number of heavy workers used to complete a job)
  • Source
  • Destination
  • Duration of the transfer job
  • Paths Trans/Tot (Paths that have been transferred so far compared with total paths)
  • Bytes Trans/Tot (Bytes that have been transferred so far, compared with total bytes)
  • Failed paths and bytes
  • Excluded paths and bytes
  • Command:
    • cp: copy
    • mv: move
    • mv→cp: a move job that was converted to a copy job, usually due to errors or omitted paths.
    • prealloc/(cp or mv): copy or move with Transfer files in sequence selected.
  • Checksum (algorithm used to verify the transfer, either md5, sha256, or none)
  • User who initiated the transfer, and the DataIQ group they are in.
  • When the job was started
  • The number of warnings and errors
  • Job ID and logs

View Transfers window shows the information listed. Buttons include Next Page, Refresh, and Close.

Pause and resume (unpause)

To pause or resume jobs, select the checkboxes in the left column next to the jobs, and then select Pause selected or Unpause selected. Multiple jobs can be selected at one time.

By default, after you pause a job, it may take some time for the job to be paused, especially if a large file is in the process of being transferred.

In the confirmation box, if you select Force pause active jobs, then pausing happens immediately. This option may potentially interrupt work in process and may extend the overall time needed to complete the transfer.

Cancel

To cancel jobs, select checkboxes in the left column next to the jobs, and then select Cancel selected. Multiple jobs can be selected at one time.

View logs

In the Job Id/View Logs column, select the transfer job ID.

The job ID appears in the far right column. It looks like a date plus a username put together.

The job log appears, showing warnings, errors and other information.

Excluded and failed paths

When a file fails to transfer, or when a file is excluded from a transfer, then buttons appear in the Excluded Paths/Bytes column or the Failed Paths/Bytes column that show the excluded or failed paths.

Excluded paths are paths that were not included in a transfer because:

  • The file path is configured to be ignored and not transferred.
  • The file type (for example, symbolic link) is configured to be ignored.

Failed paths are paths that DataIQ attempted to transfer but could not, for some other reason.
