Data Mover configuration file

This topic describes how to edit settings through the Data Mover configuration file.

Edit the file

From the DataIQ GUI: Select Settings > Data management configuration.

In the Plugins section, select the (vertical ellipses) icon next to Data Mover, and select Edit configuration.

When you open the Data Mover configuration file for the first time, the configuration file includes several sample settings, commented out with # marks. To modify these values, remove the # marks at the beginning of the line and substitute in your own values.

When you are finished editing settings, select Save. DataIQ waits until there are no active or paused transfer jobs. Once all jobs are complete, DataIQ applies the changes. These changes take about a minute, during which time Data Mover services remain available.

NOTE Do not edit the configuration file directly from the command line on the DataIQ host, otherwise your changes may not be taken. It is OK to edit configuration files on external worker nodes from the command line.

Configuration file conventions

  • Use valid YAML formatting.
  • Ensure indentation matches exactly. Use spaces for indentations, not tabs.
  • When using boolean values and numbers, do not use quote marks. For all other values, use quote marks.
  • Settings should be listed as indented under the existing "Label" headings. You can add new settings under any of the existing "Label" headings.
  • Settings are not required to match label headings, and they are not required to be in any order.
  • Comments begin with a #. Comments can be entire lines or at the end of a line.
  • Some settings appear in the configuration file as commented, for example, S3 buckets. Remove the # marks before editing the setting.

  • Empty lines are allowed and do not cause problems.
