Update plugins on DataIQ host

After a plugin is installed on the DataIQ host, you can add or change individual files without repackaging the entire plugin. For new plugins, temporarily disable the plugin, replace the updated files in hoststorage, then re-enable the plugin.

About this task

The plugin hoststorage is mapped into the plugin pod instantaneously.
NOTE For converted CCM plugins, these steps may be unnecessary, because updates to hoststorage are reflected in real-time on the next plugin execution.

Steps

  1. Disable the plugin: From the DataIQ UI, select Settings > Data management configuration. In the Plugins section, select the (vertical ellipses) icon next to the plugin and select Disable.
  2. Reduce the replica pod count to 0.
    kubectl -ndataiq scale statefulset/<plugin statefulset name> --replicas=0
  3. Make updates to hoststorage.
  4. Scale the replica pod count back up to 1.
    kubectl -ndataiq scale statefulset/<plugin statefulset name> --replicas=1
  5. Enable the plugin: Settings > Data management configuration. Plugins > (vertical ellipses) icon next to the plugin > Enable.
