Install and enable a plugin

Install and enable the plugin on the DataIQ host.

Steps

  1. Optional: If you have previously installed this plugin, check to see if this plugin still exists on the system.
    cd /opt/dataiq/maunakea/data/plugins/<plugin>

If the plugin does still exist, disable and remove the plugin.

  2. Transfer the plugin tar.gz file to a folder on the DataIQ host, for example, /root.
    cp /mydrive/myplugin-1.0.0.tar.gz /root/
  3. Use Plugin Manager to extract the tar.gz file and identify the plugin by name. Example:
    /opt/dataiq/plugin_manager/bin/plugin_manager install \
          <plugin-name> plugin-centos-base \
          -f /root/myplugin-1.0.0.tar.gz

Where <plugin-name> is a identifier used to refer to the plugin. It is recommended to use a short, one-or-two-word identifier similar to other DataIQ plugins like “duplicates”, “data-mover”, and “previewer”.

The installer will ask for confirmation to install into a particular directory.

The installer may also output some warnings about the options that were passed. For now, it is OK to ignore these warnings.

  4. Start the plugin.
    /opt/dataiq/plugin_manager/bin/plugin_manager start <plugin-name>
  5. Optional: Check the status:
    kubectl get pods -ndataiq
The plugin should appear in the list as Running.
  6. Enable the plugin. From the DataIQ UI, select Settings > Data management configuration. In the Plugins section, select the (vertical ellipses) icon next to the plugin and select Enable.
