Administrators can choose the time ranges for when data is considered "hot, warm, cold, or frozen". These time ranges can be used to help users quickly identify old or unused data that can be archived or removed, or frequently-used data that may need to be moved to high-availability locations.
Steps
From the DataIQ UI, in the Settings window, select Data management configuration > Configure bins.
Define each bin by when the files have last been modified or accessed. By default, files are categorized as:
Hot (shown in red): files accessed between now and 90 days ago.
Warm (shown in orange): files accessed ≥ 90 days ago and < 9 months ago.
Cold (shown in blue): files accessed ≥ 9 months ago and < 60 months ago.
Frozen (shown in purple): files accessed over 60 months ago.
You can set values by Days or by Months. The maximum selectable value for Days is 730 (2 years).
Data that has not been over one gathered for files over one year old will be sorted by months automatically.
By default, bins cannot be set for values over 84 months (7 years). To use data bins larger than 7 years, update the yearsToBinByAge in the Data Management Configuration file. To learn more, see Data bin settings.
