Control how data is categorized on Data Management reports.
From the web UI, select
Settings > Data management configuration > Configure data management. The
Data management configuration file opens.
Modify the following values:
Setting name
Description
yearsToBinByAge
This option defines whether the Data Bins feature is enabled, and how much data to categorize into data bins. The default value is
7 (years).
Files that are older than the maximum age are lumped into a single bin during data collection. These older files always show up in the
Frozen bin in reports. To set data bins that can differentiate between data that is older than 7 years, change this value to be higher. To learn more, see
Choose time ranges for data bins.
To increase overall scan performance, you can disable the Data Bins feature by setting this value to
0.
After changing this setting, start a full database scan. New data values only appear after the first full automatic or manual database scan is complete.
atimeScanPercentage
This option defines the percentage of the volume that is rescanned to check the time a file was last accessed (atime) during each scan.
The value can be set to any number from 0 to 100. By default, this value is
0, which means DataIQ does not report on atime.
Increasing this value can greatly affect the amount of time needed to complete regular scans.
NOTE For this feature to work, access-time tracking must be enabled on the system you are monitoring, otherwise last-modified time (mtime) is shown instead. For example, on OneFS version 9.0.0, see
Enable or disable access-time tracking.
Example: When this value is set to
5, then 5% of each volume will be regularly scanned for atime updates. After roughly 20 scans, all files and folders will have been scanned.
Example:
#Data bins
yearsToBinByAge = 7 # Scans collect data bin info. Oldest bin can be no larger than 7 years.
atimeScanPercentage = 5 # Scan for last-accessed time, 5% per scan
