DataIQ 2.2 Admin Guide

PDF

Choose how long DataIQ keeps storage monitoring data (Data retention)

To save drive space, you can set the maximum length of time that DataIQ keeps storage monitoring data. For example, DataIQ can automatically delete storage monitoring data after it is older than 6 months old. If no value is set, DataIQ retains all storage monitoring data until the drive runs low on free space.

About this task

The storage monitoring database automatically expands by 200 MB per week per monitored node.

If DataIQ storage monitoring is active, and DataIQ detects that the free space is less than 40 GB, DataIQ sends a warning alert. If free space is less than 20 GB, DataIQ sends a critical alert and stops collecting storage monitoring data. When the free space is above 60 GB free, storage monitoring collection resumes.

To learn more, see Host requirements: Storage monitoring database, estimates of drive space needed in the Dell EMC DataIQ Installation Guide.

Steps

  1. In the DataIQ UI, from the Settings page, select Datastore management > Configure data retention.
  2. Optional: review the Datastore total capacity to see how much space is available on the drive.
  3. Select Enable rolling retention policy, and select how long DataIQ should retain data, for example, 6 months.
  4. If additional drive space will be needed, expand the volume (LVM) by adding a drive.
