DataIQ 2.2 Admin Guide

PDF

Add latency alerts

You can configure DataIQ to create alerts when protocol latency on a cluster exceeds certain conditions. You can see alerts in the DataIQ UI, and optionally have alerts sent to an email address.

About this task

When protocol latency alerting is active, Grafana checks for protocol latency issues every 5 minutes.

Steps

  1. Set up alert values: From the DataIQ browse, select Settings > Storage monitoring settings > Configure metric threshold alerts. To learn more, see Metric threshold alerts configuration file.
  2. Check to make sure the alerts are working: select Storage monitoring > Show all alerts > Full alert list. If any alerts are present, they show up in this dashboard.
    Full alert list
  3. To receive email alerts when there is an issue, set up Email alerts in DataIQ. By default, email alerts are sent to addresses listed after 'to' in the 'default-receivers' section. Example:
    receivers:
    - name: 'default-receivers'
      email_configs:
      - to: 'dataiq_admin@myorganization.org'
        send_resolved: true
        html: '{{ template "email.default.html" . }}'

To send storage monitoring alerts to a separate email address, add a 'grafana-receivers' section. Example:

    receivers:
    - name: 'default-receivers'
      email_configs:
      - to: 'dataiq_admin@myorganization.org'
        send_resolved: true
        html: '{{ template "email.default.html" . }}'
    - name: 'grafana-receivers'
      email_configs:
      - to: 'storage_monitoring_admin@myorganization.org'

To send storage monitoring alerts without sending general DataIQ alerts, add a null value into the address in the 'default receivers' section. Example:

    receivers:
    - name: 'default-receivers'
      email_configs: {}
    - name: 'grafana-receivers'
      email_configs:
      - to: 'storage_monitoring_admin@myorganization.org'
