Removing system board

Steps

  1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
  2. Remove the:
    1. microSD card
    2. base cover
    3. battery
    4. WLAN
  3. To remove the system board:
    1. Lift the latch and, disconnect the 2 Input/Output cables from the connector on the system board [1].
    2. Lift the latch and, disconnect the touchpad cable from the connector on the system board [2].
    3. Release the tabs and, disconnect the keyboard cable from the connector on the system board [3].
    4. Disconnect speaker cable from the connector on the system board [4].

    5. Remove the single (M2x4) screw that secures the eDP bracket to the system board [1].
    6. Remove the eDP bracket away from the system [2].
    7. Peel the adhesive tape that secures the eDP cable to the system board [3].
    8. Lift the latch and, disconnect the eDP cable from the connector on the system board [4].
    9. Peel the adhesive tape that secures the cable to the system [5].

    10. Remove the single (M2x4) screw that secures the system board bracket to the system [1].
    11. Lift the system board bracket [2] and release the hook on the bracket from the retention tab in the system [3].

    12. Remove the 3 (M2x3) screws that secure the system board to the system [1].
    13. Lift the system board away from the system [2].

    NOTE In the event of system board replacement, the technician needs to run the RMA Shim. The RMA Shim USB Key is dispatched with service replacement System Board. A tech sheet kitted with the RMA Shim USB Key contains instructions to run the RMA Shim.
