Removing the front-facing camera
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the WWAN card for computers enabled with 4G LTE.
- Remove the display assembly.
- Remove the display bezel.
About this task
The following image indicates the location of the front-facing camera and provides a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps
- Disconnect the camera cable from a connector on the camera module.
- Peel back the foil tape that secures the camera module.
- Use a plastic scribe to carefully pry up the camera from the bottom side, starting from the locations marked by the arrows.
- Lift and remove the camera module from the display assembly.
