Removing the display bezel
Prerequisites
- Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
- Remove the base cover.
- Remove the WWAN card for computers enabled with 4G LTE.
- Remove the display assembly.
About this task
The following images indicate the location of the display bezel and provide a visual representation of the removal procedure.
Steps
- Use a plastic scribe to peel the stickers that cover the display bezel screws.
NOTE:A new set of stickers is included with the replacement display bezel. When replacing the new display bezel, adhere the new stickers over the screws once the screws have been secured.NOTE:A blade or a plastic scribe can be used to peel the display bezel stickers.
- Remove the four screws (M2.5x3.8) that secure the display bezel to the display assembly.
- Use a plastic scribe to carefully pry open the two recesses along the bottom side of the display bezel near the hinge caps.
- Use a plastic scribe to pry open the outside edge of the bottom side of the display bezel.
NOTE:Carefully pry the display bezel as peeling the adhesive on the display bezel may damage the display panel.
- Use a plastic scribe to pry open both hinge caps of the display bezel.
- Use a plastic scribe to pry open the outside edge of the left, right, and top sides of the display bezel.
- Carefully peel off and remove the display bezel from the display assembly.
